Edius Pro 6.5 -
The primary technical differentiator was the lack of required transcoding. While Avid required MXF OP-Atom and Premiere favored QuickTime or uncompressed, EDIUS 6.5 could mix H.264, MPEG-2, DVCPRO HD, and uncompressed SD on the same timeline without conversion. The system read the native GOP (Group of Pictures) structure of long-GOP codecs and decompressed only the necessary frames in real time.
