Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch 1.5.97 Jun 2026

Game version 1.5.97 is the last pre-Anniversary Edition update (often called “Skyrim SE” before the AE release in November 2021). If you’re deliberately using this version (e.g., for mods that haven’t updated to AE), this guide is for you.

The most critical reason to use USSEP 1.5.97 is its perfect marriage with the last compatible version of SKSE64 (Script Extender) for game version 1.5.97. Hundreds of advanced mods rely on SKSE plugins (files ending in .dll ). After the Anniversary Edition update, many of these mods broke and were never updated by their original authors. By staying on 1.5.97 and its matching USSEP, players retain access to a vast library of classic, powerful mods that have since become obsolete or required workarounds on newer versions.
