The transition from EN 10225:2009 to Part 1:2019 introduced several critical updates:

EN 10225-1 is a European Standard that defines the requirements for the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and testing methods of steel products, including plates, strips, and sections. The standard is titled "Weldable structural steels for fixed offshore structures - Part 1: Plates" and is published by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN).

Helps ensure that steel plates used in construction and engineering projects meet high-quality and safety standards.

The EN 10225-1 PDF outlines the following key features:

S355J2 (EN 10025) looks similar to S355G10 (EN 10225-1). However, EN 10025 steel lacks the mandatory fracture toughness in the through-thickness direction. Using EN 10025 on a crane pedestal in the North Sea will result in catastrophic lamellar tearing.
